Temperatures slowly begin to fall. The Similkameen glows with changing colours: the Sumac burns red, the larch pure gold––sunsets are legendary. The region is a photographers and painter’s dream. Okanagan Hiking is especially amazing this time of year with many trails in Cawston, Keremeos, and Osoyoos just 15 minutes drive from us. Autumn crops are harvested, notably Ambrosia apples, a crunchy sweet variety first discovered in Cawston, and squash in every size, shape, and colour.

Snow blankets the evergreens and brings a new face to the Cascade mountains. Wildlife viewing in our forest is especially magical. There’s the serenity of our hushed woods, the snowy backdrop, the solitude, which is other worldly. Nickel Plate Nordic Center, Apex Mountain, and Mt. Baldy gets ready for their ski seasons ahead. Local stories (or chapteek in nsyilxcən) are told around our outdoor campfires––hot cocoa and roasted marshmallows included!
